This Friday 14th August is the next data submission deadline for all procedures carried out up until the end of March 2026 to be submitted on the NVR. This is for inclusion in our next quarterly report (see below).

OPCS codes for aortic procedures on the NVR
- We have been analysing the aortic data from 2025 and early 2026 recently and have noticed a number of procedures where the primary OPCS code entered on the NVR is not a primary procedure code (one starting with L).
- The new NVR IT system allows you to enter any code in any of the NVR OPCS code fields, which makes it more difficult to analyse. In some cases, it is impossible for us to determine the procedure performed.
- We will be making changes to the IT system to restrict the OPCS codes that can be selected as the primary code for an aortic procedure on the NVR.
- In the meantime, please use an OPCS code starting with L in the primary OPCS field on the NVR, and ensure that it is a 4-character code.
- For a primary aortic procedure, the code should start with L18 or L19 for an open repair and L27 or L28 for an endovascular repair (e.g. L194 or L271).
